[The epidemiological efficacy of mass vaccination against measles among the troops]

The measles epidemiological situation in Russia has deteriorated in the last years. This problem is also actual for military units, where infection has a form of epidemic outbreaks which inflict up to 12% of personnel. The specialists of the Moscow Military Region sanitary-epidemiological detachment have studied the immune status in 20 military units. The results of these studies have shown that 17 units were practically unprotected against measles. On the basis of these results a mass immunization with measles vaccine was carried out among servicemen to meet the epidemiological requirements. The authors recommend to study the state of antimeasles immunity during the formation of military units and realize a selective or complete vaccination of personnel depending on the data obtained in the result of these studies.
