Oncology focus. Nursing patients with oral cancer

Oral cancer is a particularly distressing disease, and treatment can be difficult to cope with. It is more common than is often realized, and may be preventable. This article discusses how nurses may help to reduce the incidence of advanced disease, and briefly explains how the treatment of intraoral cancer is managed in one specialised unit.
