[A study on feasibility of the GR phenolaldehyde resinifying agent]
1School of Stomatology, Beijing Medical University.
Abstract:
According to the technological requirements of synthesizing resin and the properties of the resinifying agent, glutaraldehyde, resorcinol and sodium hydroxide with an optimal ratio was selected as a new resinifying agent. The GR resin solidified usually within 20 to 30 minutes, which was suitable to clinical use. Histologic study indicated that GR could resinify living tissues and the residual and infected pulpal tissue in root canals. It not only filled the main canals and sealed the apical foramen, but also infiltrated into the accessory canals and fine branches of canals. The permeating distance of GR in dentinal tubules was short. The results showed GR had the basic properties of resinifying agent.

Acid Halides to Alcohols: Grignard Reaction
Grignard reagents are a source of carbanions and function as nucleophiles. The mechanism begins with the nucleophilic attack by the carbanion at the carbonyl carbon of the acid halide to form a tetrahedral intermediate. Next, the carbonyl group is re-formed, and the halide ion departs,...
Esters to Alcohols: Grignard Reaction
The reaction requires two equivalents of the Grignard reagent and introduces two identical alkyl groups, derived from the Grignard reagent, bonded to the hydroxyl-bearing carbon of the alcohol.
The reaction follows the typical nucleophilic acyl substitution mechanism. The Grignard...
Preparation of Aldehydes and Ketones from Carboxylic Acid Derivatives
Carboxylic acid derivatives like acid chlorides and esters are more easily reducible than the corresponding acids. The derivatives reduce in the presence of mild reducing agents to give aldehydes. Aldehydes can also be prepared by Rosenmund reduction, that is, the reduction of acid...
