[Test results in European children with a Nucleus Mini System 22 cochlear implant]

Over 600 European children have been implanted with Nucleus Mini System 22 Cochlear Implant since 1985. As well as its proven safety und effectiveness it has become increasingly important to monitor the benefit provided postoperatively at regular intervals. The results from 144 European children randomly selected suggest that postlingually deafened children show rapid improvements in performance whilst children deafened before acquisition of speech and language progress at slower but a continuous rate in the first years of experience.
