Summary

Acute myocardial infarction (AMI) patients with higher initial immunoglobulin E (IgE) levels showed a better prognosis. Immunoglobulin G (IgG) levels rose during recovery, indicating immune system response to myocardial damage.

Area of Science:

  • Immunology
  • Cardiology

Context:

  • Acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is a critical cardiovascular event.
  • Understanding the immune system's role in AMI and patient outcomes is crucial.

Purpose:

  • To investigate the dynamic changes in immunoglobulin E (IgE) and immunoglobulin G (IgG) levels in AMI patients.
  • To explore the relationship between immunological profiles, particularly IgE, and prognosis in AMI.

Summary:

  • Serum IgE levels were elevated on day 5 post-AMI, decreasing by week 3.
  • Serum IgG levels showed an inverse pattern, increasing significantly by day 21, suggesting an immune response to myocardial recovery.
  • A high initial IgE level correlated with a better prognosis in AMI patients.

Impact:
