[Isopycnic centrifugation in metrizanide gradient of ribosomal ribonucleoprotein precursor particles]
Abstract:
Metrizamide has been described as a new medium for isopycnic centrifugation of unfixed biological particles. In the murine leukemia cell line L 5178 Y, the buoyant density of 80 S and 60 S preribosomal particles was found to be 1,22 g/cm3, which is noticeably lighter than buoyant densities of mature ribosomal particles.
