Summary

Endoscopic procedures can cause bacteraemia, potentially leading to infections in patients with valvular heart disease. This review examines antibiotic prophylaxis recommendations to prevent these rare but serious endoscopy-related infections.

Background:

Endoscopic procedures are known to cause bacteraemia.
