Sufficient analgesia offers the patient the opportunity for a dignified and comfortable death. The family is relieved from the anger, despair, and sense of helplessness that comes from watching a loved one die in uncontrolled pain. As nurses in home healthcare, we can impact the statement that 25% of all cancer patients die without pain relief.
