Background:

Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of laparoscopic varicocelectomy.
  • To assess the impact of laparoscopic varicocelectomy on seminal parameters and pregnancy rates in infertile patients.

Main Methods:

  • A retrospective review of 46 patients undergoing laparoscopic repair of 75 varicoceles over two years.
  • Intraoperative Doppler probe utilization was analyzed for its effect on internal spermatic artery preservation.
  • Seminal parameters and pregnancy outcomes were assessed in 19 infertile patients with a minimum 12-month follow-up.

Main Results:

  • Internal spermatic artery preservation was achieved in 80% of cases, improving significantly with Doppler probe use (p < 0.01).
  • In infertile patients, 68% showed seminal improvement and a 26% pregnancy rate.
  • Complications were low (4%), including one case each of bleeding and nerve injury. Persistent varicocele rate was 1%.
