Background:

  • Postobstructive pulmonary vasculopathy (POPV) involves abnormal pulmonary artery changes and bronchial collateral vessel growth.
  • Endothelin-1 (ET-1) is a potent vasoconstrictor peptide implicated in vascular remodeling.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the role of ET-1 in a canine model of POPV.
  • To assess ET-1 levels and localization in POPV.

Main Methods:

  • Canine model of POPV created by ligating the left main pulmonary artery.
  • Radioimmunoassay to measure plasma ET-1 levels.
  • Immunohistochemistry to localize ET-1 in lung tissues.
