[An abscess formed by Salmonellae in a postoperative tumor cavity]

A focal salmonella infection was detected in the postoperative cavity of a astrocytoma. S. paratyphi B was isolated several times from the same cavity during a 12 months period. Although effective antibiotics were administered in addition to the surgical cleaning procedures S. paratyphi B could not be eradicated.
