Gyriform calcifications following purulent meningitis

Abstract:
The case is presented of an 8-month-old boy who developed gyriform calcifications in the parieto-occipital region 5 months after purulent E. coli meningitis. Subcortical calcifications were also evident, and the entire region was contracted. It is apparent that severely damaged parenchyma due to purulent meningitis can produce cortical/subcortical calcifications.
