Summary

Magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) reliably depicts normal brain arteries and detects vertebrobasilar disease with 100% sensitivity. This noninvasive screening tool shows limitations in assessing stenosis degree but is clinically valuable.

    Conclusions:

    • MR angiography is a clinically significant noninvasive method for screening posterior brain arterial supply.
    • Despite limitations in quantifying stenosis, its high sensitivity makes it valuable for initial patient assessment.
    • MR angiography aids in identifying macroangiopathy within the posterior arterial circulation.
