Anterior cervical decompression and fusion using the Coventry cervical spreader and dowel inserter

Instrumentation for use in anterior cervical interbody fusion is described which allows controlled spreading of the adjacent vertebrae and accurate placement of the dowel. A portion of our experience with this instrument is analysed to support our belief that it is safer and more effective than conventional spreaders with a lower risk of damage to the graft or surrounding structures.
