Summary

Estradiol metabolites, 2-hydroxyestradiol and 4-hydroxyestradiol, act as active hormones. These catecholestrogens effectively bind to estrogen receptors, stimulating cell proliferation and progesterone receptor expression in MCF-7 cells.
