    Summary

    Physostigmine impairs short-term memory and causes a "physostigmine syndrome" of sedation and slowed thinking. Long-term memory consolidation remained unaffected, but some subjects experienced emotional distress.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the effects of physostigmine on short-term memory (STM) and long-term memory (LTM) consolidation.
    • To characterize the behavioral and emotional effects of physostigmine administration.
