Abstract:
A peer review program for specialty nursing certification has been developed by 12 charter member groups. Its purpose is to serve as an advocate for consumer protection, to increase the public's awareness of the meaning and value of specialty nursing certification and to enhance prestige, self-actualization and professional advancement of certified nurses. The rationale for development of the organization and procedures for initiating membership are described.
