Abstract:
The meaning of the words "weak" and "ill" tend to overlap. Feeling weak or ill is a common symptom in organic as well as psychogenic disorders. In the Norwegian language we have found about 200 synonyms and dialect words for weak or ill. These 200 words fall naturally into six groups, depending on which aspects or analogues of weak or ill they express.
