Area of Science:

  • Dermatology
  • Oncology

Background:

  • Multiple cutaneous leiomyomas are benign skin tumors.
  • Surgical excision is the historical treatment for cutaneous leiomyomas.

Observation:

  • This article details a case of multiple facial cutaneous leiomyomas treated with excision.
  • The patient presented with numerous painful skin nodules.

Findings:

  • Surgical excision was performed for the facial leiomyomas.
  • Alternative treatments, including pharmacologic agents, were discussed for non-feasible surgical cases.

Implications:

  • Pharmacologic therapies offer a viable alternative for managing numerous cutaneous leiomyomas.
  • This approach may improve patient outcomes when surgery is impractical.
