Summary

Exercise testing can help diagnose hyperventilation syndrome (HVS) by revealing abnormal gas exchange. Ventilatory equivalents for oxygen (VE/VO2) and carbon dioxide (VE/VCO2) are higher in HVS patients during exercise.
