The greatest part of patients (62%) were living in São Paulo City, and the remaining 38% in other Brazilian cities or States. The Department of Internal Medicine of the Medical Faculty of São Paulo referred 86 (22%) of these patients to the Center, while 159 of them did not receive any primary medical attention before that. The existence of cardiological care facilities near their homes was not know to 287 (72%) of them.
