Summary

Altered mitochondria are common in peripheral nerves of patients with mitochondrial myopathy and hereditary motor and sensory neuropathy with optic atrophy (HMSN VI). These nerve mitochondrial changes may contribute to neuropathy in mitochondrial diseases.
