Evaluation of polycaprolaitone custom tray material

Custom impression trays are essential in prosthodontics to ensure consistent material thickness during impressions. Historically, acrylic resin has been the standard material for these trays. However, recent developments have introduced alternative materials, such as polycaprolactone, which may offer different mechanical properties. Prior research has shown that acrylic resin provides adequate rigidity and deformation resistance, but its use may be limited by brittleness or processing challenges. This gap motivated the investigation of polycaprolactone as a potential alternative. No prior work had resolved whether this new material could maintain structural integrity under clinical conditions.
