Area of Science:

  • Gastroenterology
  • Endoscopic Surgery

Background:

  • Conventional endoscopic snare polypectomy carries risks of bleeding and perforation.
  • Minimizing complications is crucial for patient safety during endoscopic procedures.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the efficacy and safety of an endoscopic clipping technique for preventing complications during polypectomy.
  • To assess the utility of the HX-3L clipping apparatus in colonoscopic polypectomy.

Main Methods:

  • Employing an endoscopic clipping technique using the HX-3L clipping apparatus.
  • Clips are used to secure the polyp base before snare resection.
  • Resection is performed using electrocautery and cutting.

Main Results:

Related Experiment Videos

  • No instances of bleeding or perforation were observed during or after polypectomy.
  • No complications associated with the use of endoscopic clips were reported.
  • En bloc resection of large polyps was achieved, facilitating accurate cancer assessment.
  • Endoscopic clipping enabled effective site marking for subsequent colonoscopic surveillance.
  • Conclusions:

    • The endoscopic clipping method is advantageous for colonoscopic polypectomy.
    • This technique offers a safe and effective alternative for polyp resection, reducing complications.
