    Summary

    Suicidal ingestion of flecainide caused two fatalities in otherwise healthy individuals. High blood flecainide concentrations were detected post-mortem, indicating a severe overdose scenario.

    • Two otherwise healthy individuals, aged 33 and 15, died from suicidal ingestion of flecainide.
    • Both individuals ingested their mothers' prescribed flecainide medications.
    • Electrocardiographic data in one case revealed a high-grade conduction block with idioventricular rhythm.

    • Autopsy analysis of blood and tissue samples confirmed lethal flecainide concentrations.
    • Blood flecainide levels measured were 93.7 mg/L and 100 mg/L.
    • Gas chromatography/nitrogen-phosphorous detection and gas chromatography/mass spectrometry were used for quantification.
