[Nephropathy of massive obesity]

Glomerular proteinuria without significant functional disorders or histological lesions can be found in massively obese patients. Nephrotic syndrome, segmental hyalinization of the glomeruli and altered filtration are exceptional. In most cases, therefore, glomerular proteinuria requires only supervision without treatment. The physiopathogenesis of this nephropathy (renal vein hyperpressure?) has not yet been fully elucidated.
