[A successful removal of a left atrial floating ball thrombus after mitral valve replacement]

She had headache and dizziness on the 16th post-operative day. Echocardiography revealed a floating ball thrombus in the left atrium. The ball thrombus was removed successfully on the 5th day after detecting that. The principle of the treatment of the floating ball thrombus is to remove that promptly after the diagnosis is established. But in the case of complicating with fresh cerebral or cerebellar infarction, the timing of the surgery is controversial.
