    Summary

    Facial recognition tests can help differentiate functional psychiatric disorders from neurological conditions. Patients with pseudoneurological symptoms showed normal facial recognition, supporting its use in differential diagnosis.

    • Facial recognition tests were administered to 44 patients with pseudoneurological symptoms.
    • Neurological evaluations were conducted to rule out organic brain disease.
    • Performance was compared to a control group of medical patients without neurological history.

    • No evidence of brain disease was found in any of the 44 patients.
    • All patients were ultimately diagnosed with a functional psychiatric disorder.
    • Facial recognition performance in these patients was comparable to that of the control group.
