Abstract:
To date, there have been few indications for laparoscopic surgery in modern urology. The operations already tried have posed a challenge because they require skills with this new technique that cannot be acquired by just performing this type of surgery, because of the few operations possible in urology. Thus, a cooperative arrangement was made with the surgical department in our hospital to form an interdisciplinary team consisting of a surgeon and a urologist; the team performed all laparoscopic surgery on a rotational base. Within a few months' time, this gave us sufficient experience with this new type of surgery to be able to perform even large urological operations laparoscopically.
