Fatal poisoning by potassium in human and rabbit
Forensic Science
|January 1, 1977
Abstract:
An unusual case of suicidal poisoning by intra venous injection of K+ is presented to demonstrate the limitations of toxicological analysis of post-mortem examination in such a case. Its potential for a "clean undetectable murder" in a homicidal situation is indicated, the parallel being intra muscular insulin/penicillin poisoning which on the other hand are detectable. The intra venous lethal dose is approximately 30-35 mg K+/kg (Human/Rabbits).
