Improved procedure for quantitative determination of aflatoxins in corn and wet milled corn products
Abstract:
Aflatoxins are extracted from the sample by high-speed blending with aqueous acetone, purified with ammonium sulfate, and partitioned into benzene. The benzene extract is purified on a silica gel-alumina column by washing with benzene-acetic acid and ether-hexane, and eluted with methylene chloride-acetone. The eluate is evaporated, redissolved in benzene-acetonitrile, and spotted on a thin layer chromatographic plate for resolution and quantitative determination against standards.
