    Summary

This study presents the first case of a renal sinus angiomyolipoma, a benign tumor. Radiographic findings helped identify and surgically remove the lesion, preserving kidney function.

    Area of Science:

    • Nephrology
    • Radiology
    • Oncology

    Background:

    • Angiomyolipomas are typically found within the kidney parenchyma.
    • Renal sinus localization is an exceptionally rare presentation.

    Observation:

    • A case of a benign renal sinus angiomyolipoma was identified.
    • Radiographic findings included a lucent, extrarenal mass with specific vascular patterns.
    • The lesion displaced and compressed the renal vein without invasion.

    Findings:

    • Infusion nephrotomography and renal venography were critical for diagnosis.
    • The tumor exhibited neovascularity unresponsive to epinephrine and lacked arteriovenous shunting.
    • A characteristic "whorled" venous pattern was observed.

    Implications:

    • This case expands the known anatomical locations for angiomyolipomas.
    • Accurate preoperative imaging is vital for surgical planning and kidney preservation.
    • Highlights the importance of considering rare presentations of common renal tumors.
