Summary

B cells can simultaneously produce both membrane immunoglobulin M (mIgM) and membrane immunoglobulin A (mIgA) during IgA isotype switching. This occurs without deleting the C mu gene segment, suggesting alternative splicing mechanisms are involved in B cell differentiation.
