Summary

Pineal cysts (PC) are common incidental findings on MRI scans. Most pineal cysts do not cause symptoms and are discovered incidentally during routine imaging.

Background:

  • To determine the incidence of pineal cysts (PC) in patients undergoing magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
  • To assess the clinical relevance and symptomatic presentation of incidentally discovered pineal cysts.

  • Retrospective review of 400 consecutive standard MRI examinations.
  • Identification and analysis of cases diagnosed with pineal cysts.

Main Results:

  • Seven cases of pineal cysts were identified, representing an incidence of 1.75% in the studied cohort.
