Summary

Electroencephalogram (EEG) studies reveal reduced brainwave power during non-rapid eye movement (NREM) sleep in patients with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). Interhemispheric brainwave coordination is also diminished in both NREM and rapid eye movement (REM) sleep.
