Current issues in the treatment of hyperlipidaemias

Following the Consensus Conference on Hyperlipidaemia in Canberra in October 1991 that reviewed the evidence for lipid lowering and its effect as primary and secondary prevention of coronary heart disease PBS guidelines for the use of diet and drugs in management of hyperlipidaemia have been promulgated. The guidelines are summarised in this paper.
