    Summary

Low-experience hospitals have higher AIDS patient mortality rates than high-experience facilities. This study explores how to transfer knowledge from expert centers to improve care and outcomes for acquired immunodeficiency syndrome patients in all hospitals.

    Area of Science:

    • Clinical Medicine
    • Public Health
    • Healthcare Management

    Background:

    • Significant disparities in mortality rates for acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) patients exist between hospitals with varying levels of experience.
    • Low-experience hospitals face challenges in managing complex AIDS cases, potentially leading to poorer patient outcomes.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the factors contributing to differential mortality rates in AIDS patients based on hospital experience.
    • To identify effective strategies for knowledge transfer from high-experience to low-experience hospitals to improve AIDS patient care.

    Main Methods:

    • Comparative analysis of mortality data from AIDS patients treated in hospitals with differing experience levels.
    • Qualitative assessment of best practices and learning mechanisms in high-experience centers.

    Main Results:

    • Hospitals with higher patient volumes and specialized resources demonstrate significantly lower AIDS-related mortality.
    • Barriers to knowledge dissemination include lack of standardized protocols and limited inter-hospital collaboration.

    Conclusions:

    • Bridging the experience gap is crucial for reducing AIDS mortality disparities.
    • Implementing targeted educational programs and collaborative networks can enhance care quality in low-experience settings.
