Abstract:
A Tc-99m HMPAO brain single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) study of a patient with biopsy-proven Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD) demonstrated decreased perfusion in the right frontal and temporal areas. Brain CT findings were normal, and electroencephalographic results were nonspecific. The clinical potential of Tc-99m HMPAO brain SPECT in the evaluation of CJD is described, and its use encouraged.
