Summary

Prostate carcinoma rarely metastasizes to the uvea, occurring in 2% of patients with uveal metastasis. Uveal metastasis from prostate cancer is linked to significantly shorter survival times.

Background:

  • To determine the frequency of prostate carcinoma as the primary neoplasm in patients with uveal metastasis.
  • To analyze the clinical characteristics and outcomes of patients with uveal metastasis from prostate cancer.

  • Retrospective review of 379 consecutive patients with uveal metastasis.
  • Identification of patients with prostate carcinoma as the primary tumor.

  • Prostate carcinoma was the primary tumor in 7 patients (2% of all, 5% of male patients).
