[Blood serum proteins in bilaterally adrenalectomized rats]
Abstract:
Ten days after bilateral adrenalectomy rats displayed a disturbance of the protein-synthesizing function of the liver expressed in hypo- and dysproteinemia (a reduction of albumin and an increase of globulin level). Twenty days after the operation there was a tendency to normalization of the mentioned function, and in 90 days the protein-forming function of the liver became normal; in all probability this was caused by the transformation of the regulating function of the organism and by the direct regulation of this function of the liver by the hypothalamo-hypophysial system.
