Abstract:
We present our experience using plates and screws for the fixation of craniofacial mobilizations. We describe the osteotomies "monoblock advancement" combined or not with "facial bipartition", used for the treatment of Crouzon's disease and Apert's syndrome respectively. We expose our experience gained on 42 patients with a follow up of six years, pointing out the indications for plates and screws. The advantages of this method are discussed, being mainly these: stable fixation, early surgery and no intermaxillary fixation needed.
