Abstract:
Reactive thiol groups were measured in neurons glial cells and neurofilaments of rat central nervous system. Neurons displayed 27 nmol/mg prot. reactive SH-groups while the figures for glia and neurofilaments were 36.5 and 44 nmol, respectively. For comparison, brain and spinal cord homogenates contained 3.2 and 6.9 nmol/mg of prot. extractable free thiol residues.
