    Background:

    • Previous studies showed Cryptococcus neoformans can asymptomatically colonize mouse brains.
    • The central nervous system (CNS) was fatal in only 4% of animals in prior experiments.

    Observation:

    • Intraocular cryptococcoma formation leading to blindness was observed.
    • A short-lived uremia, induced by glycerine injection, enhanced selective CNS and ocular involvement.

    • The auxanographic method using STAIB's technique effectively monitored and controlled uremia.
    • A clinical case of intraocular cryptococcosis with uremia showed spontaneous healing after uremia treatment.
