  • E. coli immunoreactivity was observed in ulcers and lamina propria; streptococcal labeling was found in epithelial cells, lamina propria, ulcers, granulomas, and lymph nodes.

Conclusions:

  • The study suggests that E. coli and streptococcal antigens may play a role in Crohn's disease pathogenesis.
