Background:

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the binding of apo E and other amyloid-associated proteins to A beta peptides in CSF.
  • To determine if apo E interacts with soluble A beta (sA beta).

Main Methods:

  • Synthetic A beta peptides immobilized on affinity membranes were incubated with CSF.
  • Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and ligand binding studies were employed.

Main Results:

  • Apo E and apolipoprotein J (Apo J) bound to the A beta-coated membranes.
