HLA antigens in sarcoidosis

Background:

Purpose of the Study:

• To investigate the association between specific Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA) antigens and clinical subtypes of sarcoidosis.
• To determine if particular HLA antigen frequencies correlate with sarcoidosis presenting as uveitis, erythema nodosum, or arthritis.

Main Methods:

• Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA) typing was performed on 65 patients diagnosed with sarcoidosis.
• Patients were categorized based on their clinical presentation: uveitis (45 patients), erythema nodosum (12 patients), and arthritis (8 patients).
• Antigen frequencies in each patient group were compared to control populations to identify statistically significant associations.
