Abstract:
The investigator using light or electron microscopy to elucidate the histology and ultrastructure of the reproductive organs and gametes of chickens and turkeys is confronted with unique problems. This paper addresses these as well as other more general concerns regarding specimen preparation and laboratory safety. The use of differential interference contrast microscopy coupled with fluorescence microscopy as a means to study the fate of sperm in the oviduct is introduced.
