Caretakers' informational needs after their children's renal or liver transplant

The objectives of this research were to identify the information needs and concerns of the primary caretakers of pediatric renal and liver transplant recipients. A descriptive exploratory design was used. The major concerns expressed by the subjects were rejection, infection, normalization of the child and family unit, and reintegration into society. When nurses can anticipate these family's needs, anxiety may be decreased and the family and child may cope more effectively.
