Area of Science:

  • Gynecology
  • Reproductive Medicine
  • Minimally Invasive Surgery

Background:

  • Laparoscopic management is the standard treatment for ectopic pregnancy.
  • Early ectopic pregnancy is typically treated with laparoscopic linear salpingostomy.

Observation:

  • A case of persistent trophoblastic implants to the peritoneum occurred after laparoscopic linear salpingostomy.
  • This complication arose following treatment for an early ectopic pregnancy.

Findings:

  • Persistent trophoblastic implants can occur post-laparoscopic salpingostomy.
  • The case highlights a rare but significant complication of a common procedure.

Implications:

  • Establishes the need for specific follow-up protocols after laparoscopic salpingostomy.
