Pleomorphic fibroma on the scalp

Summary

This case study details a rare benign pleomorphic fibroma on the scalp of a young Korean woman. Despite unusual cellular atypia, the tumor exhibited benign clinical behavior.

Background:

Benign pleomorphic fibroma is a rare cutaneous neoplasm.
Scalp involvement is uncommon, with limited documented cases.

Observation:

A young Korean woman presented with a scalp lesion.
The lesion was histopathologically characterized as a polypoid/dome-shaped fibrous mass.

Findings:

The tumor displayed sparse cellularity with significant nuclear atypia.
Mitotic figures were rare, indicating slow proliferation.
Despite atypical features, the lesion demonstrated benign clinical behavior.

Implications:

This case expands the understanding of benign pleomorphic fibroma on the scalp.
Highlights the importance of correlating histopathological findings with clinical behavior.
Contributes to the literature on rare cutaneous tumors and their management.
